What Som collects
No account, and nothing about your audio or tabs. Only what the trial and license need, below.
Audio
To change the volume of an app, Som uses macOS audio taps: the app's sound passes through Som on its way to your speakers. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Browser tabs
With your permission, Som asks Chrome-family browsers which tabs have audio or video and changes their volume. It reads each tab's title and address only to show them in the panel and widgets, on your Mac.
Trial and license
The version downloaded from this website asks our license server when your 14-day trial started and checks your license key. It sends only an anonymous identifier of your Mac (a one-way hash, not the serial number) and the key. When you buy a license, Stripe processes the payment; we keep the key and the email you paid with so you can see it again under My licenses. Signing in there uses your Google account; we receive only your email address and a Google account identifier. The Mac App Store version uses Apple's purchase system instead and talks to no server of ours for this.
